Omihachiman Suigo used to be an important canal, and is one of Japan’s three admirable waterside areas and it is in the untouched nature, so people can enjoy the rustic environment most of the three.
In January, 2006, it was selected as the first Culturally Important Landscape in Japan. In October, 2008, the region surrounding Lake Nishinoko and the Chomeiji River was registered as a Ramsar Site. In January, 2009, the area around Shiraou and Maruyama was designated as one of the Most Scenic 100 Villages of Japan. Such as precious waterside environment has been highly admired overseas. We will go aboad canalboats and leisurely cross into the wetlands between reeds and marshes.

History
It is said that a traditional leisure of the royal court was followed by the riverboat tour by the lords Nobunaga Oda and Hidetsugu Toyotomi in the late 16th century.
